Who we are

Falklands Coffee Roasters is a small coffee business based in Stanley, Falkland Islands. Contact Kyle at kyle@falklandscoffeeroasters.com. Our UK correspondence address is: Falklands Coffee Roasters, 27 Brookfield Crescent, Hampsthwaite, HG3 2EE, United Kingdom. This is a correspondence address; our coffee is roasted and dispatched from the Falkland Islands. We are responsible for the personal information we collect through this shop and our customer enquiries.

Information we collect

When you order, we collect your name, email, billing and delivery addresses, telephone number if supplied, items purchased, order notes, and payment status and transaction references. Please only include information needed to fulfil your order in delivery notes.

When you contact us, we receive the details and message you submit. Our website and service providers also process technical information such as your IP address, browser, device, pages requested, referral information and basket session to operate the shop and protect it from misuse.

How we use your information

We use order information to take payment, prepare and deliver purchases, send order updates, and handle cancellations, returns and enquiries. We use relevant records for accounting, legal obligations, resolving disputes, preventing fraud and keeping the website secure.

Where data-protection law requires a lawful basis, these uses rely on fulfilling our contract with you, complying with legal obligations, or our legitimate interests in running and securing the business and helping customers. Where consent is required, we rely on your consent. An order does not automatically subscribe you to marketing emails.

Payments through Square

Card payments are processed by Square. Information needed to process and support the payment, including contact and billing details, order total and transaction information, is shared with Square. Card details are entered into Square’s payment fields; we do not store your full card number or security code in our shop. We receive payment confirmation and limited transaction/card information needed to identify payments and issue refunds. See Square’s customer privacy notice.

Who can receive your information

Kyle and authorised people helping manage the shop can access information needed for orders and support. Our WordPress/WooCommerce shop uses Hostinger hosting and technical services; business email is provided through GoDaddy. Hosting, email, website support and backup providers process information needed to deliver those services.

We share delivery details with postal services and carriers, and relevant information with professional advisers or authorities when required. We keep a photograph of parcels at the post office as evidence of posting; the photograph may include the address label and is used for order support, not public promotion. We do not sell customers’ personal information.

Cookies and external services

The shop uses cookies and similar storage to remember basket contents, maintain sessions, operate checkout and support security. Blocking these in your browser may prevent shopping or payment features from working. Our site also uses temporary caching to improve loading speed.

The Contact page includes a Google Maps embed. Loading it connects your browser to Google, which may receive your IP address, browser information and cookies and associate activity with your Google account. Google’s use of this information is explained in its privacy policy. Links to Facebook and Instagram take you to services with their own privacy policies.

Our contact form uses Google reCAPTCHA v3 to help detect spam and automated abuse. It assesses interactions with the page and sends technical information, such as your IP address and browser/device information, to Google. reCAPTCHA also uses a security cookie (_GRECAPTCHA) for risk analysis. See Google’s Privacy Policy and Terms of Service. If you cannot use the form, you can email us directly.

Where information is processed and how long it is kept

We operate in the Falkland Islands, and our hosting, email and payment providers may process information in the UK and other countries. Their privacy notices explain their international processing and safeguards. Any transfer obligations that apply to our use of those services must also be respected.

We keep order and transaction records for fulfilment, returns, payment disputes, and applicable tax, accounting and legal record-keeping requirements. Enquiry records are kept as needed to deal with your request and any related complaint. The appropriate period depends on the type of record, applicable legal requirements and whether a dispute is ongoing. Backups and security records may remain for their operational retention period. Contact us to ask about a particular record or request deletion.

Your choices and requests

Email kyle@falklandscoffeeroasters.com to ask for access to or correction of your personal information, or to request deletion, restriction or transfer of it, or object to its use. These rights depend on the law that applies and are not absolute: we may need to keep some records for legal obligations or disputes. We may need reasonable proof of identity before acting on a request. Where processing relies on consent, you can withdraw it for future processing.

Please contact us if you have a privacy concern. You may also complain to the data-protection authority relevant to your circumstances; where UK data-protection law applies, this is the Information Commissioner’s Office. We will update this page when our practices change.
